Special report on climate change and land

IPCC

At COP 25 in Madrid in December 2019, the IPCC presented a key document to understand the state of research on the impact of climate change on the use and sustainable management of land in relation to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change, desertification, land degradation and food security: The Special Report on Land and Climate Change. The document responds to the decision of the IPCC to prepare three special reports during the sixth evaluation cycle, taking into account the proposals of governments and observer organizations.

Special report on the ocean  and cryosphere in a changing climate
IPCC

It was also presented at the COP 25 in Madrid in December 2019. It is a document in which the IPCC shows for the first time the state of research on the state of the sea and the cryosphere, the ice sheet that covers large areas of the Earth’s surface, which is melting due to the increase in atmospheric temperature. It makes special mention of the temperatures of the permafrost, the permanently frozen layer of the Arctic and Alpine subsoil, whose increase is causing its melting.

The future of food and agriculture
FAO

Arable land and available water are not yet capable of feeding humanity. In this 2017 report, FAO estimates that about 795 million people go hungry, and more than 2 billion lack basic micronutrients in their diet, or suffer from disorders such as overeating. In other words, they eat in an inappropriate way for their health, either by excess or by default. It warns that global food security is threatened by pressure on natural resources such as water, a pressure that climate change will worsen in areas where there is already a water shortage.
